IMMACULATA, Pa. – Junior
Erin Farrell scored her 100
th career goal helping lead the Albright women's lacrosse team to an 18-1 non-conference victory over Immaculata on Tuesday at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Farrell finished with a team-high four goals and scored her 100
th goal midway through the first half.
Farrell joins
Amanda Smith and
Meghan Wilson as the only players in Albright history to reach the 100-goal plateau. Smith has 117 career goals, while Wilson has 105 and Farrell has 102.
Albright also received three goals from
Danielle Carey, Wilson and
Sydney Nankervis, while
Allie Brett added a pair of goals.
Mariah Cullen, Smith and
Jacqui Montague each added a goal for the Lions.
Cullen added three assists to finish with four points, while Smith had a pair of helpers.
Albright, which improved to 3-1 on the season, dominated the game and outshot the host Mighty Macs 31-14. The Lions raced out to a 12-1 halftime lead and never looked back in improving to 4-0 all-time versus Immaculata.
Montague got Albright on the board just 59 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal.
Danielle Lopez recorded the equalizer for Immaculata with 27:00 left to play in the first period, but Albright would close the half on an 11-0 run.
Wilson scored back-to-back goals to increase the Albright lead to 3-1 and Farrell tallied her first goal at the 24:43 mark of the first half to up the lead to 4-1.
Wilson, Nankervis and Carey added goals to push the Albright lead to 7-1 with 16:04 left in the opening period.
Farrell then recorded her 100
th goal off an assist from Carey with 14:50 to play in the first. She followed with another goal 31 seconds later to bump the margin to 9-1.
Carey added her second goal of the period to make it 10-1 Albright, and Brett scored a free-position goal and Smith scored unassisted to close out the period.
Albright received two goals from Nankervis and goals from Carey, Cullen, Farrell and Brett in the second period.
Emily Hutson picked up the victory for Albright in goal as she allowed just one goal and made four saves in 30:51 of action.
Hayley Joyce relieved Hutson and did not permit a goal while making five saves.
Albright returns to action on Thursday (March 12) when it visits Misericordia for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
