CHESTER, Pa. –
Matthew Lomady,
Philip Potter and
Bryan Smith each recorded three points as Albright opened Commonwealth Conference play with a 13-4 victory over Widener on Wednesday at Leslie Quick Stadium.
Lomady and Smith each had a goal and two assists, while Potter posted a team-high three goals for the Lions.
Cam Cetrone and
Andrew Potter each had two goals for Albright, which improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Commonwealth Conference.
Widener, which fell to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play, received two goals from Vince Marra.
Albright raced out to a big early lead led by
Andrew Potter and Lomady.
Andrew Potter got the Lions on the board as he scored at the 13:54 mark of the first quarter to give Albright a 1-0 lead.
Mike Southwick made it 2-0 Albright 30 seconds later with an unassisted goal and Lomady pushed the lead to 3-0 with a goal with 10:33 to play in the first period.
Derek Stump increased the lead to 4-0 and
Andrew Potter scored his second goal of the period at the 5:42 mark to increase the margin to 5-0.
Smith capped the first period with a goal with three seconds remaining off a helper from Lomady.
James Egleston scored 49 seconds into the second period to push the lead to 7-0 and
Philip Potter made it 8-0 on a goal on a feed from Lomady.
Widener got on the board when Tim Taylor scored an unassisted goal 2:23 before the intermission.
Albright scored four times in the third period, including a pair of goals by Cetrone, to increase the lead to 12-1.
Nicholas Pisko picked up his third win of the season in goal as he recorded 10 saves on the night.
