FT. PIERCE, Fla. –
Dylan Boll went 4-for-4 and drove in a run as Albright unleashed a 17-hit attack on its way to a 13-1 season-opening victory over Geneva on Saturday at the Lawnwood Complex.
Max Dundore,
John Medvecky and
Brandon Triantos each drove in two runs and Dundore, Medvecky,
Joe Pechulis,
Nathan Fretz and
Julian Cimino each had a pair of hits to pace the offensive attack.
Seven Albright pitchers combined to limit Geneva to just three hits and one run over the nine innings.
Jared Neiheiser picked up the win for Albright as he started the game and struck out one batter in his inning of work.
Dylan Price and
Doug Franks each worked two scoreless innings for the Lions and struck out two batters.
Albright opened the scoring in the first inning when
Gabe Santone doubled in Boll, who had singled, with two outs.
The Lions tacked on three runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 4-0.
Pechulis and
Micah Storms opened the inning with base hits, and following a sacrifice by Cimino, came in to score on a two-run single by Triantos. Triantos later scored on a Geneva fielding error.
Albright pushed the lead to 6-0 in the sixth inning when Dundore had an RBI double and Medvecky added an RBI single.
The Lions blew the game open with a four-run seventh inning which extended the lead to 10-0. Boll highlighted the inning with an RBI double as Albright took advantage of four Geneva errors.
Dundore and Medvecky had RBI singles in the eighth inning and Fretz doubled in a run in the ninth inning to cap the Albright scoring.
Albright will continue play in Florida with a game against Western Connecticut State on Sunday (March 15).
