Albright Softball Improves to 4-0 With 21-0 Victory Over Sarah Lawrence

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Kaela Romano and Sera Stull each drove in three runs and Riley Gerenda pitched her second consecutive shutout leading the Albright softball team to a 21-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday.

Albright, which improved to 4-0 on the season, used an eight-run first inning and a 13-run third inning to post the lopsided victory. The Lions also recorded their third consecutive shutout on the mound.

Romano was 1-for-2, scored three runs and had three RBI, while Stull was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Regina Milburn, Sammi O'Connor and Morgan Cullen each had two RBI as the Lions pounded out 13 hits.

Gerenda continued her outstanding start to the season by posting her second consecutive shutout. She went 5.0 innings and allowed just two hits while striking out 11 batters. It marked her second straight double-figure strikeout game as she had a school-record tying 14 strikeouts versus Southern Vermont.

In 12 innings pitched this season, Gerenda has surrendered just three hits and has recorded 25 strikeouts.

Albright wasted little time getting on the board against the Gryphons in the first inning.

The Lions loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter and Brianne Long scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch.

O'Connor drew a walk to load the bases again and another wild pitch produced the Lions second run of the inning.

Following a walk to Armida Roman, Stull reached on an infield single that scored Romano to extend the lead to 3-0.

O'Connor scored on a wild pitch giving Albright a 4-0 lead and Cullen doubled to left center to score Roman with the fifth run of the frame.

Zoe Robertson singled to center which scored Stull and pushed the margin to 6-0.

Albright capped the outburst with an RBI groundout by Long and a run-scoring double from Milburn to take an 8-0 lead after the first inning.

The Lions then blew the game open by scoring 13 times in the third inning.

Romano, O'Connor, Stull, Cullen, Long and Alyssa Simmons each produced RBI during the inning.
