Boll, Louviaux Lead Albright to 7-3 Win at Hood

FREDERICK, Md. – Senior Dylan Boll homered and drove in two runs and sophomore Daniel Louviaux pitched into the ninth inning leading Albright to a 7-3 Commonwealth Conference victory over Hood on Friday at Frederick Community College.

Boll led a 12-hit Albright offensive attack by going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Nathan Fretz, Zac Okonski and Max Dundore each added two hits each for the Lions.

Louviaux pitched 8.1 innings allowing eight hits and three runs to go along with five strikeouts to pick up his first victory of the season.

Trey Eberly got the final two outs of the game to earn his first save of the year.

Albright, which snapped a four-game losing streak, improved to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Commonwealth Conference with the win.

The game was scoreless until the third inning when Boll delivered for the Lions.

With one out, John Medvecky drew a walk and Boll followed with a home run to right giving Albright a 2-0 advantage. It marked the first homer of the season for Boll.

Hood (3-10, 0-7 Commonwealth) cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third inning when Brooks Warrenfeltz produced an RBI groundout that scored Tyler Cook to trim the Albright lead to 2-1.

Albright expanded its lead by scoring two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

With one out, Gabe Santone started the Lions rally with a walk and Okonski followed with a single. Following a fly out, Micah Storms delivered a clutch two-run double that pushed the Albright lead to 4-1.

Albright wasted little time adding to its lead as the Lions scored three more times in the top of the sixth inning.

Fretz hit a one-out double to start the rally and Medvecky ripped a single to left that scored Fretz and gave the Lions a 5-1 lead.

Boll followed with a double to place runners on second and third and Santone delivered Medvecky with a sacrifice fly that upped the lead to 6-1.

Okonski capped the inning with an RBI single that plated Boll and extended the lead to 7-1.

Hood cut the lead to 7-3 when Josh Gall hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Blazers chased Louviaux with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Eberly got a fly out and a line out to end the game.

The two teams will return to action on Saturday (March 28) at Kelchner Field for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. in the Lions home opener.
