Albright Falls in Overtime to Messiah 9-8

GRANTHAM, Pa.T.J. Holston, Philip Potter and Ryan Turner each scored two goals, but Tyler Goglio scored with 1:45 remaining in overtime lifting Messiah to a 9-8 Commonwealth Conference victory over Albright on Wednesday at the Starry Athletic Complex.

Albright had possession to begin the overtime session, but Messiah goalie Sam Stengel made a save on a shot by Holston and Messiah scooped up the ground ball.

Following a Messiah timeout, the Falcons worked the ball to Goglio who found the back of the net off a feed from Drew Pagenkopf giving Messiah the win.

Goglio finished with two goals as did Pagenkopf to lead the Falcons. Andrew Harris, Justin Braldey, Will Franken, Chris Ruger and Ryan Mayer also added goals for Messiah.

Albright also received goals from James Egleston and Ryan Eber, while Holston, Philip Potter and Turner each added an assist.

Stengel made eight saves in net for Messiah and earned the victory, while Nicholas Pisko took the loss despite making four saves.

The overtime goal offset a strong comeback from Albright in the third period.

Trailing 7-3 after a goal by Bradley with 7:13 to play, the Lions answered with four consecutive goals to tie the game.

Holston answered the goal by Bradley just nine seconds later as he scored at the 7:04 mark to cut the lead to 7-4.

Eber and Egleston each scored unassisted goals to bring Albright to within 7-6 with 1:52 left in the third period.

Holston scored off a feed from Turner to tie the contest at 7-7 with 38 seconds left in the third period.

Messiah regained the lead at 8-7 when Pagenkopf scored an unassisted goal at the 12:25 mark of the fourth period.

Turner tied the game at 8-8 with an unassisted goal with 9:31 to play in the game.

Neither team could score for the remainder of the period as each team failed to capitalize on a man-up opportunity.

Messiah improved to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the Commonwealth win the win, while Albright dropped to 10-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Albright will next host Lycoming in a Commonwealth Conference game on Saturday (April 18) at 1 p.m. at Exeter High School.
