Philip Potter Tallies Five Points in Albright Victory

READING, Pa. – Senior Philip Potter scored two goals and had three assists leading the Albright men's lacrosse team to an 18-5 Commonwealth Conference victory over Lycoming on Saturday at Don Thomas Stadium.

T.J. Holston poured in five goals for Albright, while Cam Cetrone, Ryan Turner and Matt Brasher each had three goals. Andrew Poitras and Matthew Lomady also added markers for the Lions.

Jake Sanamaker had two goals to lead Lycoming, while Trevor Williams, Garrett Huff and Lee Pappas added one goal each.

Albright fired 48 shots at goal, which ties for the second most shots this season. The Lions won the ground ball battle 35-25 and dominated the faceoff circle by winning 21-26.

Albright improved to 11-3 overall and raised its Commonwealth Conference record to 4-2, while Lycoming dropped to 2-11 on the season and 2-4 in league play.

Albright jumped out to a 5-0 first period lead behind the play of Holston.

Holston scored the first three goals of the game to give Albright a 3-0 lead with 4:01 to play in the first period.

Philip Potter added a man-up goal and Turner scored his first goal of the game giving the Lions a 5-0 lead after one period.

Andrew Poitras scored his second goal of the season with 13:54 to play in the second period increasing the Lions lead to 6-0.

Philip Potter and Holston added goals to push the Albright lead to 8-0 with 9:26 left in the period.

Lycoming got on the board on a goal by Wanamaker with 7:05 to play, but Turner and Holston answered the goal to push the Albright lead to 10-1 with 3:21 before the intermission.

The Warriors received goals from Pappas and Williams to cut the Albright lead to 10-3 at the break.

Albright opened the third period on a 3-0 run as Cetrone, Turner and Lomady found the back of the net to increase the Lions lead to 13-3 with 6:53 left in the third.

Lycoming trimmed the lead to 13-5 with back-to-back goals, but Albright scored the final five goals of the game, including three from Brasher, to post the 18-5 victory.

Nicholas Pisko played the first half in goal for the Lions and made two saves to pick up the victory, while Ryan Aler played the final 30 minutes and made six saves.

Albright will visit Lebanon Valley on Tuesday (April 21) for a key Commonwealth Conference game beginning at 7 p.m.
