Shalvoy Scores Career-High Four Goals in Victory over Alvernia

READING, Pa. – Sophomore Ray Shalvoy scored a career-high four goals leading the Albright men's lacrosse team to a 19-1 Commonwealth Conference victory over Alvernia on Wednesday at the Alvernia Turf Field.

Albright, which improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Commonwealth, jumped out to a 15-0 lead against the Crusaders. The Lions improved to 4-0 all-time against Alvernia and have won the four games by a combined score of 71-10.

Shalvoy also added an assist to finish with five points for the game, while senior T.J. Holston also scored two goals for the Lions.

Albright also got goals from Ryan Turner, Philip Potter, Andrew Poitras, Bryan Smith, Matt Brasher, Ryan Eber, Justin Brown, Andrew Potter, James Egleston, Cam Cetrone, Ryan Higgins, Derek Stump and Matthew Lomady.

Nicholas Pisko got the start for the Lions in goal and earned the win. He made one save in his 15 minutes of action. Ryan Aler made three saves in 30 minutes of action and Thomas Mitchell and John Kirk also spent time in goal for the Lions.

Holston opened the game for the Lions with back-to-back goals giving Albright an early 2-0 lead with 10:28 to play in the first.

Eber made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal with 8:26 to play in the opening period.

Albright blew the game open by scoring seven goals in the second period to take a 10-0 lead into halftime.

All seven goals were scored by different players for Albright.

Shalvoy opened the scoring in the third period by tallying his first goal of the season at the 6:45 mark.

He scored his second goal with one second remaining in the third period and then added back-to-back goals in the fourth period.

Albright will return to play on Saturday (April 11) when it faces Mary Washington in Baltimore.
