Pierre Game-Winner Lifts Albright Past Immaculata in Double Overtime

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Albright junior Lawrence Pierre scored at the 9:10 mark of the second overtime lifting the Lions to a 2-1 victory over Immaculata on Tuesday at Draper Walsh Stadium.

It marked the first career goal for Pierre and lifted Albright to its sixth consecutive season-opening victory.

Steve Bien-Aime started the run for the Lions and passed the ball to Oumar Diawara who laid it off for Pierre who drilled home the winning goal.

The goal capped a rally that saw the Lions overcome an early deficit.

Pat Friend got Immaculata on the board at the 21:41 mark of the first half when he scored off an assist from Matt Dunn putting the Mighty Macs in front 1-0.

Peter Bockarie answered for the Lions with his first career goal off a pass from Austin Phillips that tied the match at 1-1 at the 31:27 mark of the first half.

After allowing 10 first-half shots, the Albright defense tightened for the remainder of the match. The Lions permitted just 10 shots for the remainder of the match.

Albright senior goalie Austin Aldinger performed well in net for the Lions including making four saves in the second overtime to help set up the goal by Pierre. Aldinger made 11 saves for the match and improved to 1-0 on the season.

Six Albright players recorded two shots, but the Lions managed only five shots on goal.

The Lions return to action on Sunday (Sept. 6) when they travel to Mount Aloysius for a 2 p.m. match.
