Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Smith Powers Albright Field Hockey Past Keystone

READING, Pa. -- Albright senior Amanda Smith and sophomore Tracy Snyder each scored a career-high three goals leading the Albright field hockey team to a 6-1 non-conference victory over Keystone on Thursday at Shirk Stadium.

It marked the second consecutive game in which an Albright player has recorded a hat trick after Mackenzie Faight poured in three goals in a victory over Delaware Valley.

The Lions, who have won two straight and three of their last four games, posted their highest offensive output since scoring six goals in a win over Hood on Oct. 19, 2012.

Albright dominated play against the Giants by finishing with 53 shots, including 35 shots in the first half. Smith led the way for the Lions with 22 shots, while Snyder notched 14 shots.

Smith and Snyder combined to give Albright a 4-0 lead at the intermission.

Smith opened the scoring for the Lions by scoring at the 14:39 mark of the first period off an assist by Kasey Neiderer.

Smith upped the lead to 2-0 when she scored off of a feed from Snyder at the 22:18 mark of the period.

Snyder then closed the half with a pair of goals giving the Lions a 4-0 lead at the break. Cassidy Barrow assisted on Snyder's first goal at the 25:20 mark and then Snyder tallied an unassisted goal at the 34:30 mark of the period.

Keystone got on the board on a goal by Katie Thompson at the 44:58 mark of the second period off a helper from Genesis Pacheco.

Smith then notched her third goal of the game, and fifth of the season, to up the Lion lead to 5-1 at the 58:21 mark.

Snyder added her third goal of the game at the 65:24 mark off of a helper from Jordan Hansbury to make the final score 6-1.

Aileen Taylor and Alicia Moore split time in goal for the Lions. Taylor played the first half and made one save, while Moore made seven second-period saves.

Albright will look to extend its winning streak on Sept. 22 when it visits Cedar Crest for a non-conference game beginning at 4 p.m.
