READING, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer program came up short against King's on Saturday evening from Shirk Stadium as the Lions dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decison.

With the loss, Albright slips to 2-3-2 on the season while King's improves to 3-1 on the year.
Albright's
Christine Allison and
Alexis Tunney split time in net. Allison started the game making one stop while giving up one goal in 51 minutes of play. Tunney came in relief giving up two goals in 38 minutes in net as she made three saves as she suffered the loss (0-1). The Monarch's Jessica Natale earned the win between the pipes making four saves.
Albright came out flying in the first stanza. On the second shot of the game for the Lions, Sousa blasted a shot past Natale to give Albright a 1-0 edge 15:56 into the game her second goal of the season. The Lions had a corner kick prior to the goal and they were able to capitalize.
Heading into halftime, Albright was up 1-0 as the team put together six first half shots compared to King's three. The corner kicks were all earned in the first half, one apiece.
Both teams developed a solid offense production in the second stanza. King's Lauren Philips recorded the equalizer to make 1-1 just five minutes in. The Lions came right back and scored one of their own with 51:02 showing on the clock as rookie Lutz tallied her first career collegiate goal as a chip shot just over the reach of the goalkeepers fingertips.
Dylan Shipe was credited with the assist on the play, her second one of the season. With that goal, the two teams were notched at two apiece with 39 minutes of soccer left to play.
Moments later, at the 54
th minute, Amy Barge scored the second goal of the game for the Monarch's from the top of the circle just beyond the reach of Tunney. Raquel Molina broke the tie five minutes later to give King's the first lead of the evening, 3-2.
The Lions were relentless in second half but were not able to come up with any more goals as time ticked off the clock in the second stanza.
King's outshot Albright for the game 13-12 as ten of those came in the second half of play.
Up next, the Lions travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to take on Moravian. The tilt is scheduled for Thursday (Sept. 24) at 4 p.m.
