Men’s Soccer Falls To #14 Eastern 4-1

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer program fought hard against 14rth-ranked Eastern, but fell 4-1 under the lights at Shirk Stadium on Saturday.

With the loss Albright drops to 1-6-1 on the year, while Eastern increases their record to 8-0-1 on the season.

Albright's Austin Aldinger played in 80 minutes between the pipes taking the loss while making three saves. Freshman Adam Giurlando saw nine plus minutes of action on the field coming in relief stopping two shots in the process.

Eastern's Jamie Stratton earned the win in net playing the entire match making a total of three saves.

Ablright and Eastern both played very aggressively in the first stanza.

The Eagles struck first off of the foot of Sean Dougherty an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute to claim a 1-0 lead.  Seven minutes later, Eastern tallied the second goal of the game to take a 2-0 lead on a goal by JD Saracco.

At the half, Eastern took eight shots compared to Albright's two in 45 minutes of play. Eastern also held the edge in corner kicks 4-1.

The Lions never gave up as they came out strong in the second frame. After playing a fantastic first half against a ranked opponent the team, Albright was able to get on the board in the 50th minute. Austin Phillips notched a header past Eastern's Stratton to make it a 2-1 game as Andrew Sussingham earned the assist.

In the 67th minute, Jadon Rasming of Eastern scored the third goal of the match for the Eagles to take a 3-1 lead off of header into the far left side of the net just out of the reach of Aldinger.

The Eagle's Saracco posted his second goal of the game in the 75th minute as Dougherty earned the assist on the fourth goal of the game for Eastern as a free kick was awarded to the team and they were able to capitalize.

For the rest of the game, Albright's defense held their ground and did not give up another goal.

Eastern outshot Albright 18-5 in the game with 10 of those coming in the second frame.  The Lions garnered four total corner kicks total with three in the second stanza while their opponent earned five for the entire match.

Phillips led Albright with three shots in the game with two on target. Peter Bockarie and Nathan Hughes both had a shot apiece in the contest.

Up next, Albright welcomes DeSales to Shirk Stadium on Wednesday (Sept. 30) for a 7 p.m. match.
