GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Albright sophomore
Claudia Guise had a double-double with 29 assists and 17 digs, but Arcadia rallied to hand the Lions a 22-25, 25-14, 19-25, 25-17, 15-10 MAC Commonwealth defeat on Tuesday in Alumni Gymnasium.
Albright, which was seeking its first conference win of the season, took a 2-1 lead after posting a 25-19 win in the third set. But Arcadia rallied to win the final two sets, including a 15-10 win in the fifth set, to record the victory.
Leading 2-1, Albright fell behind early in the fourth set 10-5. A kill by Guise and an Arcadia attack error brought the Lions to within 11-8 before Makenna Micklus ended the run with a kill for the Knights.
The Lions trailed by only 12-9 before Arcadia reeled off a 6-3 run to push the lead to 18-12.
Albright closed to within 20-15, but the Knight would outscore the Lions 5-2 to clinch the set and even the match at 2-2.
Albright, which dropped to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play, once again fell behind early in the deciding fifth set as Arcadia raced out to an early 4-1 lead.
Albright rallied to within 5-4 on the strength of a kill by
Maddy Greth and two Arcadia attack errors.
After Arcadia stretched the lead to 9-6, the Lions scored two straight points on Knight attack errors to close to within 9-8.
But Arcadia answered with a 6-2 run to close out the set and the match.
Greth had a career-high 19 kills to lead both teams and she also posted a double-double with 15 digs.
Katie Schmerse had eight kills and 16 digs, while
Cheyenne Robinett added six kills and three assists.
Becca Davis finished with 22 digs to lead the Lions, while
Sarah Clark had 12 digs for Albright.
Arcadia, which improved to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play, was led by Elizabeth Joseph who had 12 kills. Micklus and Becca Campf finished with 11 kills each.
The Knights also received 23 digs from Kayla Resh and 12 digs from Christina Karnavas.
