READING, Pa. – Albright's dynamic offensive one-two punch of senior
Amanda Smith and sophomore
Tracy Snyder helped lead the,Albright field hockey team to a 3-2 non-conference victory over Neumann on Wednesday at Shirk Stadium.
Smith scored a pair of goals and Snyder added a goal and an assist as Albright notched its fifth victory in its last six games. The Lions also improved to 4-1 at Shirk Stadium with the victory over the Knights.
Albright, which improved to 6-4 on the season, had scored 24 goals over a four-goal span before dropping a 1-0 decision to Stevenson on Saturday, but the offense returned on Wednesday against Neumann.
Smith began the scoring for the Lions as she notched a goal at 12:25 of the first period putting Albright ahead 1-0.
Neumann, which dropped to 6-4 overall and saw its five-game winning streak halted, rallied to tie the game when Becky Guinto scored 4:35 before halftime to knot the score at 1-1.
Albright regained the lead at the 51:35 mark when Snyder scored unassisted to put the Lions back in front at 2-1.
Smith and Snyder then combined to score a spectacular goal to increase the Lion lead. Working on a breakout, Snyder stick handled the ball inside the circle and found a streaking Smith who tapped it past the keeper to push the Albright lead to 3-1.
Neumann made things interesting when Laura Martin scored at the 65:55 mark to bring the Knights to within 3-2.

Aileen Taylor picked up the win in net by stopping eight shots on the afternoon.
The Lions outshot Neumann 21-15 and had a 15-7 advantage in penalty corners.
Smith, who upped her team-leading goal total to 11, is closing in on the school record for goals in a season. She is currently seven goals shy of breaking the record of 17 set by Angela Garnder in 2005.
