Yordy Collects Three Hits in Florida Opener

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Freshman Jeff Yordy collected three hits and scored a pair of runs, but Albright lost to SUNY Maritime 10-2 in the Lions opening game of its spring break trip to Florida on Saturday at the Bob Gladwin Complex.

Yordy was 3-for-3 to lead the Lions, while senior Julian Cimino was 2-for-4. Bryan Brubaker had one hit and drove in a run for Albright.

The Privateers, who improved to 5-2 on the season, banged out 14 hits on the night led by Stephen Semier who had three hits. Joe Scerra, Chris Deddo, Aaron Schiavoni, Brian McLaughlin and Joe DiLeo each had a pair of hits for SUNY Maritime.

SUNY Maritime jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and then tacked on four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to increase the lead to 8-0.

Albright got on the board in the top of the fifth inning.

Yordy reached on an infield single to begin the inning and advanced to second when Brubaker was safe on a fielding error. Following a double play, Brandon Triantos reached on another Privateers error, which allowed Yordy to score from third base.

Albright, which dropped to 0-3 on the season, added a run in the top of the seventh inning.

Yordy singled to shortstop to lead off the inning and Brubaker followed with a triple to right that plated Yordy with the Lions second run of the game.

Anthony Bartok worked 1.2 innings of relief and did not permit a run while striking out two batters.

Anthony D'Ancona pitched a complete game for SUNY Maritime as he went 9.0 innings and allowed just six hits and struck out 11 batters.

Albright returns to action on Saturday (March 13) when it faces Norwich in a doubleheader.
