FORT PIERCE, Fla. –
Micah Storms and
Noah Beebe each drove in runs for Albright, but the Lions dropped a 6-3 decision to Earlham in the final game of their Florida trip on Wednesday at the Lawnwood Complex.
Bryan Brubaker and
Jack Shevlin collected two hits each for Albright, while Beebe,
Julian Cimino, Storms and
Kyle Gantert picked up base hits.
Earlham improved to 9-1 on the season with the win, while Albright dropped to 3-5 on the year.
Albright jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
Cimino led off the inning with a single and Storms followed with a double that scored Cimino and put the Lions up 1-0.
Earlham countered with a run in the bottom of the inning when Ethan Bailey singled in Matt Barger.
Albright immediately regained the lead in the top of the third inning. Gantert singled to lead off the frame and advanced to second on a passed ball.
Gantert advanced to third on a groundout and, following a walk to Brubaker, came home to score when Beebe produced an RBI ground ball to second.
Earlham answered with a run in the third inning when Brennan Laird hit an RBI groundout that scored Addison Robertson who had tripled.
Earlham scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-2 lead.
Albright rallied with a run in the eighth inning to cut the lead to 4-3.
Brubaker and Beebe opened the inning with back-to-back singles and both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Cimino.
Storms reached on a fielding error that scored Brubaker, but the Quakers turned a double play to get out of the inning.
Earlham salted the game away by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Albright returns to action on Saturday (March 19) when it faces Messiah in Grantham, Pa., in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
