READING, Pa. --
Cam Cetrone and
Tyler Strayline each scored two goals, but McDaniel scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to rally to defeat Albright 8-6 on Saturday at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.
Albright held a seemingly safe 6-3 lead entering the final quarter, but the Green Terror reeled off five straight goals to claim the victory.
Albright, which dropped to 1-5 on the season, also received goals from
Jordan Zehr and
Nick Tonno. Zehr added two assists and
JJ Boliaux, Cetrone and
James Egleston each had one assist for the Lions.
McDaniel, which improved to 2-4 on the season, was paced by Zach Monzo, Quinn Lykens and Jason Lawrence who each had two goals. Jared Payne and Cooper Archambault added goals for the Green Terror.
Eric Ritchie made 10 saves in goal for McDaniel to earn the victory, while
Ryan Aler turned aside 12 shots for the Lions.
Albright jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against the Green Terror.
Cetrone got the Lions on the scoreboard at the 8:46 mark of the first quarter when he scored off of a feed from Egleston to put Albright up 1-0.
Zehr increased the lead to 2-0 when he scored a goal off a pass from Cetrone with 5:15 to play in the first quarter.
Lykens cut the lead in half when he scored for McDaniel at the 2:34 mark of the first to trim the lead to 2-1.
Strayline upped the lead back to two goals when he scored off a feed from Zehr with 1:57 to play in the opening quarter.
McDaniel outscored Albright 2-0 in the second quarter to tie the game at 3-3 at the intermission.
Albright responded by outscoring McDaniel 3-0 in the third quarter to take a 6-3 lead.
Cetrone scored an unassisted goal to open the scoring in the third quarter, and Tonno pushed the lead to 5-3 with a goal at the 9:43 mark of the third. Strayline capped the scoring in the third when he scored off a Zehr pass to give the Lions a 6-3 lead.
Lawrence opened the fourth quarter with a goal for the Green Terror, which cut the lead to 6-4 with 11:02 to play in the game.
Monzo added an unassisted goal at the 7:24 mark to cut the lead to 6-5, and Lykens knotted the score at 6-6 when he scored with 4:35 to play.
Monzo then tallied his second goal of the game, which proved to the game winner, with 1:52 left in the fourth quarter to give McDaniel its first lead of the game at 7-6.
Cooper Archambault scored with 40 seconds to play to seal the victory for the Green Terror.
Albright returns to action on Saturday (March 26) when it hosts Montclair State in non-conference play in Shirk Stadium.
