Tonno Scores Career-High Four Goals Against Montclair State

READING, Pa. -- Sophomore Nick Tonno scored a career-high four goals, but Montclair State outscored Albright 6-1 in the fourth quarter on its way to a 15-8 non-conference victory over the Lions on Saturday at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.

Albright, which dropped to 1-6 on the season, battled back from an early deficit. Montclair State raced out to a 7-1 lead, but Tonno brought the Lions back.

Albright opened the third quarter with a goal from Cam Cetrone off an assist by Derek Stump to cut the lead to 7-3 with 8:23 remaining in the quarter.

Zach Schreck answered for the Red Hawks with 7:05 to play to increase the margin to 8-3.

Tonno then scored three straight goals, the last coming at the 4:08 mark of the third quarter, to trim the Montclair State lead to 8-6.

Brady Wulster, who finished with three goals, responded with a goal for the Red Hawks to up the lead to 9-6 with 2:22 remaining in the third quarter.

Tonno answered with his fourth goal of the game off a feed from Cetrone to bring the Lions to within 9-7 at the end of the third quarter.

Montclair State, which improved its record to 4-5 with the win, then scored five straight goals to open the fourth quarter to pull away from the Lions.

Schreck and Wulster each had three goals to lead the Red Hawks, while Brett Mangan and Dylan Heningburg tallied two apiece. Mangan finished with six points as he added four assists on the day.

Cetrone finished with two goals for Albright, while Stump and James Egleston each had one goal. Cetrone and Stump had two assists, while Andrew Potter, Matt Wighard and Jordan Zehr each had an assist.

Lucas Jones earned the win in goal for Montclair State as he made six saves on the day, while Ryan Aler made 11 saves for Albright.

Albright returns to action on Saturday (April 2) when it opens MAC Commonwealth play against Messiah at 1 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
