MONTCLAIR, N.J. -- The Albright women's basketball team has never had to worry about the terms Sweet 16, Elite Eight and Final Four in seasons past, but in its history-making season the Lions will be looking to earn their first-ever spot in the Sweet 16 on Saturday against Montclair State in a second round NCAA Tournament game at 5 p.m. in the Panzer Athletic Center.
The Lions won an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in school history on Friday when it cruised past Husson 76-46.
Albright, which improved to 26-2 overall, turned to its defense to advance to the second round. The Lions limited Husson to just 23.3 percent shooting from the floor and held the Eagles to their lowest scoring output of the season.
All 11 players who dressed saw action for the Lions and 10 of the 11 players scored in Albright's lopsided victory.
Nina Mazzarelli scored 13 first-half points and
MiKayla Lea scored a career-high 13 points in the second half to lead the Lions.
Albright also got 10 points and eight rebounds from
Emily O'Donnell, while
Jane Joyce had nine points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Kelecia Harris finished with nine points and eight rebounds and
Alysha Lofton contributed eight points and 10 rebounds.
Montclair State (22-6) advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 55-48 victory over SUNY-Poly on its home floor behind a career-high 18 points from Zoe Curtis.
