ASTON, Pa. --
Zach Krause drove in two runs and
Noah Beebe had two hits and scored a run, but Neumann scored seven runs in its final four at-bats to pull away from Albright and post a 10-3 non-conference victory over the Lions on Wednesday at Bruder Field.
Albright, which dropped to 0-2 on the season, scored three times in the top of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 5-3, but the Knights responded by scoring seven unanswered runs to pull away.
Krause finished the game 1-for-4 with two RBI, and Beebe was 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Brandon Triantos was 2-for-5, while
Bryan Brubaker,
Jeff Yordy and
Jack Shevlin each picked up a base hit.
Neumann, which improved to 4-7 overall, was led by Eric Bergman who was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Cody MacNair homered and drove in two runs and Chuck Trentler, Curt Yenchik, Spencer Young and Sam Banks each collected two hits.
Patrick Graham picked up the victory on the mound for the Knights as he allowed two earned runs in 5.1 innings of work, while
Doug Franks took the loss for Albright after allowing three runs in 4.0 innings pitched.
Neumann jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Trentler tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly and MacNair added a solo home run.
The Knights tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and added two more in the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead.
Albright got right back into the game by scoring three times in the top of the sixth inning.
Beebe started the rally with a one-out single and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Julian Cimino drew a walk and
Tanner Brescancine reached on an error to load the bases.
Krause followed with a single to right that plated both Beebe and Cimino to trim the Knights lead to 5-2. Albright got to within 5-3 later in the inning when Brescancine scored on a wild pitch.
Neumann responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to push the lead to 7-3 and added a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to close out the scoring.
Albright will travel to Fort Pierce, Fla., where it will play six games in five days beginning with a contest against SUNY Maritime on Saturday (March 12) at 7 p.m.
