SCRANTON, Pa. --
Cam Cetrone and
Andrew Potter each scored five goals, but a furious Albright rally came up short as the Lions lost to SUNY Potsdam 14-13 on Saturday.
Albright, which dropped to 1-2 on the season, trailed 7-2 at the intermission and 10-6 after three quarters before mounting a charge in the final frame.
Cetrone opened the fourth period with a goal on a feed from
Derek Stump to trim the lead to 10-7 with 14:12 to play in the game.
Lindsey Pound responded with a goal for Potsdam to up the lead to 11-7, but Cetrone answered with his fifth goal of the game to bring the Lions to within 11-8 at the 13:33 mark of the fourth.
Eric Soderquist then scored back-to-back goals increasing the lead to 13-8 with 8:31 left in the game.
Tyler Strayline and
Jordan Zehr each scored goals in a span of 1:22 to slice the deficit to 13-10 at the 6:25 mark of the fourth quarter.
Ed Doherty scored off an assist from Pound to up the Potsdam lead to 14-10 with 3:25 left to play.
Potter then scored three consecutive goals to bring the Lions to within 14-13 with 21 seconds left in the contest.
Albright had a chance to gain possession of the ball on the ensuing face off, but was whistled for a penalty and Potsdam ran out the remainder of the game.
Strayline finished with two goals for the Lions, while Stump had a team-leading four assists.
Albright will return to action on Wednesday (March 9) against Franklin & Marshall at 4 p.m.
