WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --
Stephanie Pomante keyed a three-run rally in the seventh inning of game one with a two-run single and
Sammi O'Connor pitched a shutout in the second game as Albright swept a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader from Lycoming on Tuesday at the Shangraw Complex.
Albright scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to win game one 3-1 and O'Connor blanked the Warriors on four hits as the Lions completed the sweep with a 3-0 win in game two.
O'Connor and Rachael Shady were locked in a pitcher's duel in game one until Lycoming broke though with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Albright would answer with a rally in the top of the seventh inning.
With one out, pinch-hitter
Stephany Courtney hit a single to centerfield to start the rally.
Zoe Robertson pinch ran for Courtney and advanced to third when
Kelly Cembrale reached on a fielding error.
Jordan Chell produced a clutch single to right that drove in Robertson and tied the game at 1-1.
With two outs, Pomante then roped a game-winning single that brought in both Cembrale and Chell and pushed the Lions lead to 3-1.
O'Connor then nailed down the win for the Lions by striking out two of the three batters in the bottom of the seventh inning.
O'Connor permitted just three hits and struck out 11 batters to notch the win.
Regina Milburn had a pair of hits for Albright, while Chell, O'Connor, Pomante,
Sera Stull and Courtney had base hits for the Lions.
O'Connor was even better in game two as she limited Lycoming to four hits, struck out 10 batters and posted her fifth shutout of the season. With the two victories, O'Connor improved to 11-7 on the season.
Shady and O'Connor again locked in a pitcher's duel before the Lions broke though in the top of the fifth inning.
Corinne Garuffe doubled to left to lead off the inning and advanced to third when Courtney followed with a single. Cembrale plated the first run of the game on a fielder's choice when the Warriors were unable to make a play on Garuffe at the plate.
O'Connor increased the Albright lead to 2-0 later in the inning when she lifted a sacrifice fly to center bringing home Courtney.

Brianne Long scored in the top of the sixth inning on a Lycoming fielding error after reaching base on a fielder's choice.
Albright, which improved to 17-8 overall and 3-3 in conference play, returns to action on Wednesday (April 13) when it hosts King's in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
