SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Three days after registering its highest offensive output of the season, the Albright baseball team was limited to just four hits by six Susquehann pitchers as the Crusaders topped the Lions 8-1 on Wednesday at Bollinger Field.
The Lions recorded 13 hits and scored 13 runs on Sunday when they downed Gwynedd-Mercy, but the offense did not carry over to Wednesday as the Crusader pitchers did not allow a base hit over the final five innings of the game.
Susquehanna, which improved to 22-10 on the season, also got home runs from Justin Cassinelli and Mark Weaver to back thte strong pitching performance.
Albright, which fell to 5-23 on the season, was paced by
Tyler Keller who went 2-for-4 and drove in the Lions lone run of the day.
Austin Roth and
Tanner Brescancine also recorded hits for the Lions.
Andrew Lewis pitched well in relief for Albright as he went 3.0 innings and permitted five hits and just one run while striking out two.
Albright scored its run in the top of the fourth inning when Brescancine triple to right center. With two outs, Keller ripped a double to score Brescancine and cut the Susquehanna lead to 4-1.
Albright returns to action on Friday (April 22) when it visits Alvernia for a MAC Commonwealth contest.
