READING, Pa. --
Erin Farrell scored five goals and Albright celebrated Senior Day by defeating Lycoming 17-12 on Saturday in a MAC Commonwealth game at Shirk Stadium.
With the win, Albright improved to 10-5 on the season which tied the school record for most victories in a season. The 2013 edition of Albright lacrosse also posted 10 wins.
Saturday marked the final regular season home appearance for Farrell,
Amanda Smith,
Nicole Klusewitz,
Emily Hutson,
Tori Meyer and
Rebecca Sartorio.
Farrell led the seniors with her five goals, while Smith finished with three goals and an assist.
Mariah Cullen scored four goals and had two assists and
Sophie Bass notched a pair of goals for Albright.
Danielle Carey,
Jacqui Montague and
Corinne Donohue also had goals for the Lions.
Hayley Joyce picked up her second consecutive victory in goal for the Lions as she played the second period and made six saves. Hutson started for the Lions and made three saves in the first period.
Albright, which raised its conference record to 5-2 on the season, used a strong second half to pull away from the Warriors.
The score was deadlocked at 8-8 at halftime, Farrell opened the scoring in the second period with a free-position goal at the 25:51 mark giving Albright a 9-8 lead.
Lycoming, which dropped to 11-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play, answered with a tying goal from Kelly McGinniss with 24:42 to play.
Albright then reeled off a 6-0 run to take control of the game. Cullen started the run with a free-position goal and Farrell, Smith and Bass followed with goals to increase the Lions lead to 13-9 with 19:38 remaining in the game.
Farrell and Cullen capped the Albright outburst, which gave the Lions a 15-9 lead with 17:35 remaining in the contest.
Albright, which has already secured a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament, will conclude its regular season on Wednesday (April 27) when it visits Lebanon Valley for a 7 p.m. game.
