Lions Drop Series Opener to Stevenson 7-0

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Jack Shevlin, Micah Storms, Noah Beebe and Jeff Yordy all recorded hits for Albright, but the Lions dropped the opening game of a three-game series 7-0 to Stevenson on Friday at Sugar Field.

Shevlin, Storms and Beebe all had one hit for the Lions, while Yordy led Albright with a two-hit day. Beebe extended his streak of reaching base safely to 16 straight games, while Yordy has reached base in 10 straight. It also marked the seventh multiple-hit game of the year for Yordy, which got him to within two of team leader Beebe.

Yordy continued his recent hot streak with his 2-for-4 performance as the freshman is batting .409 in the last 10 games.

Stevenson banged out 14 hits on the afternoon led by Craig Joseph who had four hits and scored a run. Ian Eberly had three hits, scored two runs and drove in a run and Nick Peifer drove in a pair of runs.

Stevenson, which improved to 18-20 overall and 9-10 in conference play, got a solid outing from starter Alec Romanowski who went 8.0 innings and allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters.

Stevenson scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and slowly pushed the lead out with single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. The Mustangs capped the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Albright will play its final home doubleheader of the season on Saturday (April 30) when it hosts the Mustangs at Kelchner Field beginning at 12 p.m.
