Albright Concludes Conference Season Against Stevenson

READING, Pa. -- Doug Franks pitched 5.2 innings and Tyler Keller hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings in game one, but Albright dropped both ends of a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader to Stevenson on Saturday at Kelchner Field.

Stevenson won the first game 4-3 in nine innings and completed the sweep with a 7-2 victory in the second game.

Franks, making his final appearance at Kelchner Field, worked 5.2 innings and allowed just four hits and two runs while striking out one batter.

Albright trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh inning of game one, but Keller drilled the second pitch he saw to left for a game-tying home run. The Lions almost completed the rally in the seventh inning when Jeff Yordy blasted a ball to the centerfield wall with two runners on, but Jake Hall made the catch to end the threat.

Albright threatened again the eighth inning. Micah Storms led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Noah Beebe. But Stevenson pitcher Jason Bidwell was able to work out of the jam with a strikeout and a lineout to end the inning.

Hall then turned to hero as he laced a home run to left with one out in the top of the ninth inning to provide the winning margin.

Julian Cimino had staked the Lions to a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning when he hit a two-run single that plated Storms and Yordy.

Stevenson took the lead with three runs in the sixth inning before the Lions rallied to force extra innings in the bottom of the seventh.

Brandon Triantos had a pair of hits for Albright, while Yordy, Storms, Cimino, Keller and Kyle Gantert all collected base hits.

Stevenson, which improved to 20-20 overall and 11-10 in conference play, jumped out to a 7-0 lead in game two.

Albright, which dropped to 5-29 overall and 1-20 in league play, scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Jack Shevlin scored Beebe from third on a fielder's choice and Cimino scored on a Stevenson throwing error to make it 7-2.

Storms had a pair of hits for Albright, while Beebe, Shevlin and Triantos all added base hits.

Albright will conclude the 2016 season on Monday (May 2) when it faces Kutztown at 6:35 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.
