GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior
Cam Cetrone broke the Albright school records for goals and points in a game in the Lions 19-4 MAC Commonwealth victory over Arcadia on Wednesday at Easton Field.
Cetrone finished with nine goals and 12 total points to eclipse the previous records in both categories. His nine goals topped the previous school record of seven set by
Ryan Turner in 2013 versus Lycoming, while his 12 points surpassed the previous mark of nine points shared by
Philip Potter and TJ Holston.
Albright, which won its second straight game, also received a career-high seven goals from
Tyler Strayline. His goal output would have tied the school record were it not for the record-breaking efforts of Cetrone.
Cetrone scored two goals in the first quarter, added five goals in the second quarter and then added two more goals in the third quarter to break the Albright record.
Albright, which improved to 3-6 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 2-0, also received goals from
Jordan Zehr,
Derek Stump and the first career goal for
Marcus Laychak.
Stump finished with five points as he led the Lions with four assists, while Cetrone had three assists and
Ethan Howell finished with two assists.
James Egleston and
Andrew Potter also had assists for Albright.
Ryan Aler was the beneficiary of the Albright offensive outburst as he picked up the win in goal by making four saves in his 36:41 of play.
Conor Scafidi replaced Aler and made three saves in his 23:19 of play.
Albright outshot Arcadia 41-21 and held a 34-17 advantage in ground balls. The Lions also won 17 of 26 faceoffs behind
James Lettieri and
JJ Boliaux.
Cetrone scored a pair of goals in the first quarter, but the Lions held a slim 3-2 lead after the first.
Cetrone and Strayline then took over as they combined to score all eight goals in the second quarter as the Lions outscored the Knights 8-0.
Strayline got things started in the second quarter with a goal off an assist from Howell to up the lead to 4-2 with 12:19 to play before halftime.
Cetrone then scored two goals in a 10-second span to up the Albright lead to 6-2. He scored on an assist from Potter at the 11:12 mark and then tallied an unassisted goal 10 seconds later.
Strayline added his third goal of the game at the 10:27 mark to up the margin to 7-2.
Cetrone then ripped off back-to-back goals to up the Lions lead to 9-2 at the 6:56 mark of the second.
The two then each added a goal each before halftime to give Albright an 11-2 lead at the break.
Cetrone broke the record in the third quarter when he scored an unassisted goal at the 4:34 mark giving the Lions a 15-3 lead.
He then tacked on another goal with 2:59 to play in the third quarter before being pulled from the game.
Albright returns to MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday (April 9) when it plays at Hood beginning at 1 p.m.
