FREDERICK, Md. -- Junior
Cam Cetrone scored six goals and added two assists and
Derek Stump had a school-record eight assists leading the Albright men's lacrosse team to a 17-4 MAC Commonwealth victory over Hood on Saturday at the Thomas Athletic Field.
Albright stretched its current winning streak to three straight games after opening the season with a 1-6 record. The Lions remained tied for first place in the MAC Commonwealth by raising their record to 3-0 in league play.
Three days after setting school records with nine goals and 12 points at Arcadia, Cetrone followed up with a six-goal, nine-point performance in the Lions victory.
Stump had his own record-setting performance as he had a school-record eight assists, which broke the previous school record of five shared by
Bryan Smith and
Philip Potter.
James Egleston and
Tyler Strayline added three goals each for Albright, while
Andrew Potter scored a pair of goals.
Ethan Howell,
Jordan Zehr and
Nate Rhoads also scored for Albright. Cetrone, Egleston and Howell also had assists for the Lions.
Ryan Aler earned the win in goal for Albright as he improved to 4-6 on the season by making nine saves.
Conor Scafidi played the final 15 minutes and made three saves.
Hood, which dropped to 4-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play, was led by Eddie Somerville who scored three goals.
Hood took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Somerville, but Albright responded to take a 3-1 lead on a pair of goals from Egleston and a goal from Potter. Somerville brought Hood to within 3-2 with 4:50 to play in the opening quarter.
Albright dominated the second quarter, led by Cetrone, and outscored the Blazers 8-0.
Strayline opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals to increase the lead to 5-2 and then Cetrone reeled off five consecutive goals to up the margin to 10-2 with 4:09 to play before halftime.
Zehr scored with six seconds showing on the clock giving Albright an 11-2 lead at the intermission.
Albright stretched the lead to 14-2 by opening the third quarter with goals from Potter, Cetrone and Strayline.
Albright will return to action on Wednesday (April 13) when it hosts Alvernia at 7 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
