Lions Drop Heartbreaker to Open 2016 Season

READING, Pa. -- Anthony Parlato, Eric Adamo and Zachary Lahey each scored goals, but Nick Boule scored two goals including the game-winner with 4:17 to play lifting Immaculata to a 4-3 victory over Albright on Thursday at Shirk Stadium.

Boule tied the match at 3-3 with an unassisted goal on a breakaway at the 67:39 mark of the second and then scored the game-winner 18 minutes later. Boule took a corner kick for the Mighty Macs and Albright goalie Billy Mullen made a play on the ball, but it skirted past him into the net giving Immaculata the lead for good.

It was a disappointing loss for the Lions, and spoiled the coaching debut of Chris Tadley, as Albright let a 3-1 second-half lead slip away.

The evening got off to a rousing start as Adamo found the back of the net just 1:29 into the match giving the Lions an early 1-0 lead.

Immaculata tied the match at 1-1 when Alex Noel scored on a penalty kick at the 19:18 mark of the first period.

Albright answered when Parlato converted a header off a cross from Emilinao Chirigliano with just 1:18 remaining in the first period.

The Lions pushed the lead to 3-1 at the 50:36 mark when Lahey scored on a penalty kick.

The Mighty Macs began their comeback when Noel scored his second goal of the match on an unassisted goal at the 63:32 mark.

Boule then scored back-to-back goals to secure the win for Immaculata.

Joe Lubonski picked up the win in goal for Immaculata as he made three saves in 90 minutes, while Mullen took the loss despite making five saves.

Albright has a quick turnaround as the Lions return to play on Saturday (Sept. 3) when they will compete in the Swarthmore Tournament. The Lions will face Swarthmore on Saturday at 7 p.m. and then meet Rosemont at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
