Annville, Pa.- Albright suffered its 10th straight loss Tuesday evening when Lebanon Valley swept the Lions 25-21, 25-21, 25-19. The win was the Flying Dutchmen's eighth straight improving them to 10-4, 4-0 MAC, while the Lions fell to 2-11, 0-3 MAC.
The Lions seemed poised on the court early in the opening set, racing off to a 7-2 lead. Two aces from
Morgan Puller and kills from
Maddy Greth and
Cheyenne Robinett led to Albright's success. The lead didn't last as Lebanon Valley battled back to even the score at 7. The Lions and Flying Dutchmen sparred throughout the rest of the set. With the score 15-14 in favor of Lebanon Valley, the home team rattled off four straight points to take a 19-14 lead that the Lions couldn't overcome despite their best efforts.
Albright pounced on early mistakes from its opponents along with kills from Puller,
Shaniyah Taylor, and Greth to take a 5-1 lead in set two. The Lions managed to hold off a surging Lebanon Valley and extend their lead to 16-13 by capitalizing on errors committed by the home team. After a back-and-forth battle, Albright found themselves up 21-20 before the Flying Dutchmen scored five straight points to take set two.
Despite finding themselves down 2-0 in the match, Albright never appeared defeated on the court, and continued to challenge Lebanon Valley. The two teams traded points before the Flying Dutchman jumped out to a 12-8 lead. The Lions roared back to within one, thanks to kills from
Becca Davis and Greth as well as another ace from Puller. With the Lions only trailing at one, Lebanon Valley called a timeout to regroup as its lead had dwindled. The break appeared to help as the Flying Dutchman tallied six straight points to go up 21-14, and ultimately, put the set out of Albright's reach.
Greth had a team-high nine kills as well as nine digs and one assist. Puller finished the match with six kills, three aces, and nine digs.
