MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Albright men's swimming team defeated host Messiah, 105-61, and Misericordia, 107-51, on Saturday at the Messiah Natatorium in a MAC tri-meet. The Lions won eight of the 14 events.
The 200 freestyle relay team of
Teag Culver,
Jay Deschamps,
Anthony Spanier and
Ken Richardson took second place in 1:30.22.
The Lions 400 medley relay team consisting of
Sean Riddle,
Tyler Chamberlin,
Maliq Williams and Deschamps also took second place in 3:37.45.
Culver and Williams led the Lions by winning two individual events. Culver won the 200 free in 1:47.02 and the 500 free in 4:49.71. Williams earned a first place finish in both the 100 and 200 butterfly finishing in 53.87 and 2:03.70, respectively.
Brendan Mackey-Wood (10:18.66) and William Griffith (10:23.58) finished one-two in the 1000 free, while
Jay Deschamps won the 50 free in 22.40. Mackey-Wood also competed in the 50 free taking fourth in the event after completing the race in 23.42.
Ken Richardson earned a first place finish in the 100 free in 48.99. Teammates Culver and Griffith finished back-to-back with Culver (49.52) finishing third and Griffith in fourth (49.52).
Chamberlin,
Tim Resch and
Sadiq Sistrunk finished one-two-three in the 100 breaststroke with Chamberlin receiving the final first place finish for the Lions. The sophomore won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.84, while Resch finished in 1:05.38. Sistrunk finished not far behind his teammate in 1:05.55.
The trio also finished in a row in the 200 breaststroke with Chamberlin once again leading the pack. Chamberlin took second place in 2:19.26, while Resch finished in third in 2:26.50. Sistrunk rounded out the group earning fourth in 2:27.07.
Riddle,
Conor Hassard and Mackey-Wood each earned second place finishes during the competition. In the 200 IM, Riddle took second place in 2:06.07. Mackey-Wood finished in second in the 500 freestyle in 4:56.53, while Hassard was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:05.32.
Richardson and Deschamps finished second-third in the 100 butterfly with Richardson earning second in 54.88. Deschamps was next to touch the wall in 54.98.
The Lions next travel to York, Pa., to compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships starting on February 9 and continues until the 12th.
