WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Kellie Hill had 10 kills and
Morgan Puller finished with nine kills and 12 digs to lead the Albright volleyball team in its loss at Lycoming on Wednesday night. The Warriors won the match 25-22, 26-24 and 25-16.
In the first set, Lycoming carried a 16-12 lead before scoring six consecutive points to take a double-digit advantage over the Lions, 22-12. While the set looked bleak, the Lions rallied in the latter stages. A kill by Puller and back-to-back kills from
Paige Westra sparked a 5-0 run to make it 23-18. After Lycoming pushed it to match point at 24-18, Albright scored four straight points.
Bryana Chambers started that run with a kill. At 24-22, Lycoming finally scored the last point to win the first set.
Albright jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second set thanks to an ace by Westra and kills from Hill and Puller. Albright extended its lead to 12-4 thanks to seven consecutive points capped by Puller's back-to-back kills.
Hill recorded a kill to give Albright a 21-14 lead. Hill scored again to make it 22-17, but Lycoming scored four straight to make it 22-21 Albright. The Lions pushed it to set point at 24-21, but five consecutive kills for Lycoming gave the Warriors a 26-24 win in the set.
In the third set, Lycoming jumped out to a 14-7 lead and never led by less than five points from that point.
Westra finished with seven kills and nine digs to go along with two aces.
Becca Davis had 11 digs.
Claudia Guise had 24 assists and nine digs.
Albright returns to action at home against Stevenson on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
