COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's basketball team held Ursinus to just one field goal in overtime as they gutted out a 65-59 win on the road Saturday afternoon in non-conference play over the Bears.
With the win, the Lions improve to 1-2 on the season and picked up their first overtime win since they defeated Montclair State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2016. Meanwhile, the Bears fall to 2-3 in the early part of the season.

Devan Horka led all Lions scorers with 25 points on 8-of-12 from the field and added nine rebounds, two assists, and one block. Horka scored eight of her points in the overtime period. Classmate
Nina Mazzarelli posted to 15 points to eclipse the 1,000 point mark for her collegiate career which includes her points at Division II Chestnut Hill. Senior
Jane Joyce also registered 14 points, five assists, and three steals in the win.
The teams traded baskets for the first three minutes of the game before the Lions hit three straight field goal attempts to gain a 9-4 lead at the 5:33-mark. Two free throws pulled Ursinus within three at 9-6 with 3:37 left in the quarter before the Lions ran off seven straight points to take a 16-6 lead into the second quarter. Albright held the Bears without a field goal for the final 7:14 of the quarter and went on a 13-2 run since they trailed 4-3. Ursinus responded by making its first three field goals of the second quarter to pull within six at 18-12 with seven minutes left in the half. The Bears then went on a 9-2 run to take its first lead since early in the first quarter at 21-20 with 2:47 left in the half. Joyce then gave the Lions the lead back with a jumper at the 2:27-mark to snap a span of nearly six minutes without a field goal. Ursinus rattled off six straight points to take a five-point lead with 1:02 left in the half before the Lions quickly rallied with five points in the last minute to tie the game at 27 at halftime.
A three-pointer from Mazzarelli gave the Lions a four point lead at the 7:41-mark in the third quarter and then extended the Lions lead to six at the 5:06-mark on a fastbreak layup. Joyce then hit a jumper to give the Lions a 40-35 lead with 3:43 left in the quarter before the Bears strung together eight straight points to take a 43-40 lead into the final quarter. MiKayla Lea and Horka to take the lead back at 44-43 with 7:58 left in the half. Both teams traded baskets for over two minutes before two free throws from Horka tied the game at 48 with 5:23 left in the half. Albright then seemed to gain control of the game with three field goals to take a 54-50 lead with 1:41 left in the half, but a three-pointer from the Bears cut the lead to one just 20 seconds later. A foul from Albright sent the Bears to the line with six seconds left for a chance to take the lead. Ursinus then split the free throws which left the game tied and headed for overtime.
Ursinus scored the first points of overtime to take a two-point lead, but the Lions roared back to take the lead for good at 60-56 with six straight points that all came from Horka. She would then hit one more basket and the Lions added three more free throws to close out the win.
The Lions finished the game by shooting 44.4 percent (24-of-54) from the field and 2-of-8 (25%) from beyond the arc. They also went 15-of-20 (75%) from the free throw stripe and forced 17 turnovers. Meanwhile, the Bears shot 33.9 percent from the field and just 3-of-17 from beyond the arc. Ursinus went 14-of-20 from the free throw stripe and held a slight 39-38 rebound advantage.
Lydia Konstanzer led all scorers with a game-high 26 points and added eight rebounds. Rachel Guy added 14 points and hit all three three-pointers.
Albright will return to action on Monday, November 27
th when they will continue non-conference play at Rowan for a 7 p.m. tip.
