GLASSBORO, N.J. – Behind four players reaching double digits in scoring, the Albright Lions women's basketball team registered a 73-62 wire-to-wire win against Rowan in non-conference play on Monday night.

With the win, the Lions improve their record to 2-2 following back-to-back non-conference wins in the last three days. Meanwhile, the Profs drop to 2-3 on the early portion of the season.

Senior Devan Horka led all Lions scorers with a team-high 16 points with five field goals and going 6-of-7 from the free throw stripe. Horka fell a rebound short again of reaching a double-double with nine, while posting team-highs with five assists and three steals. Classmate Alysha Lofton recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, along with 10 rebounds and three steals. Senior Nina Mazzarelli matched Lofton with 15 points and added three rebounds, while classmate Jane Joyce posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Lions jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game off a three-pointer from Joyce and a fastbreak layup from Lofton. Rowan would cut the lead to two twice at 7-5 and 9-7 before Albright went on a 9-1 run to take its largest lead of the game at 18-8 at the 1:17-mark of the first quarter. The Lions held the Profs without a field goal for 6:46 before they tallied a jumper with just two seconds left in the first quarter to cut the lead to 18-12. Mazzarelli would score the first five points for the Lions in the second quarter to extend the lead to 23-14 with 7:36 left in the half. Albright would build its lead to as many as 12 points on multiple occasions before the Profs scored five straight points in under a minute to cut the lead down to 34-27 with 2:28 left in the half. The teams then traded baskets for the final two minutes to bring the Albright lead to 38-31 at halftime.

Albright started fast in the second half as they opened the half on an 8-2 run to take a 46-33 lead at the 6:32-mark of the third quarter. Horka would then extend the Lions lead to 14 points following a three-point play with 5:30 left in the quarter. Rowan hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut the Lions lead down to eight at the 4:10-mark before Albright responded with seven straight points over the span of two minutes to take its largest lead of the game at 56-41 with 56 seconds left in the quarter. Lofton scored the first points of the final quarter at the 7:52-mark and the Lions kept their lead above double-digits for the majority of the fourth. Rowan began to make a late charge after scoring seven unanswered points to cut the Lions lead to 65-57 with 2:13 left in the half after the lead was at 15. However, the Lions held the Profs to just one field goal in the final two minutes and tallied the 73-62 win behind a 7-1 run in the final two minutes.

The Lions shot 42 percent for the game from the field behind a 13-of-26 (50%) effort in the second half.
