FREDERICK, Md. – Nina Mazzarelli scored 19 points to lead three Albright women's basketball players in double figures as the Lions defeated Hood, 75-52, Wednesday night. The win improves Albright's record to 17-4 and 12-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.

MiKayla Lea added 15 points, six rebounds, four blocks, an assist and a steal, while Alysha Lofton was the final Lion to finish in double figures with 10 points. Jane Joyce fell just shy of a triple double as the junior recorded eight points, nine rebounds and a game-high seven assists.

The third quarter proved to be pivotal for Albright. The Lions expanded on their 34-28 halftime lead in the final minutes of the third quarter. After trading points in the opening minutes of the second half, Albright ended the quarter on a 12-4 run pushing its lead to 56-39. Not only did Lea fuel the Lions run scoring seven points in 2:42, she teamed up with Joyce twice for two easy buckets. Joyce dished back-to-back passes to Lea, who made two layups to start the Lions dominant performance.

The 17-point lead would continue to grow in the fourth quarter for Albright, which saw its lead grow to as many as 25 points in the closing minutes. The Lions scored 27 points off 26 Hood turnovers as well as dominated the paint outscoring their opponent 44-22.

Albright returns home Saturday afternoon for a conference matchup with Lebanon Valley. Tipoff for the game is 2 p.m.
