Cetrone Nets 100th Career Goal as Albright Drops Season Opener

READING, Pa- Cam Cetrone scored his 100th career goal as Albright dropped their season opener to Swarthmore College 15-14 on Saturday at Shirk Stadium.

It was a close battle throughout. Swarthmore opened up the scoring quickly as it got on the board 1:24 into the game. Albright answered back quickly as Andrew Potter scored the first goal of the year for the Lions with 10:43 left in the first period. The teams traded the next two goals to even the score at 3. Swarthmore extended their lead to 6-3 over the next seven minutes before Cetrone's second goal of the game broke the Garnet run. The Lions closed out the first half with a goal from JJ Boliaux with two seconds left, and entered halftime trailing 8-6.

The Lions came out firing to start the second half as they scored three straight goals to take their first lead of the game at 9-8. The teams traded goals with Jordan Zehr scoring his first goal of the season. Swarthmore went on another three-goal streak to regain the lead. The Garnet took a 12-10 lead into the fourth period. The Lions kept battling, though, as Cetrone scored two goals in a row to tie it up with 10:55 left in the game. Late in the game Swarthmore added two more goals to go up by two, but Albright still did not stop battling as Tyler Strayline added a goal as time expired to cut the final score to 15-14.

Both teams ended the game with 38 shots while Albright had 23 shots on goal and Swarthmore had 21. Groundballs were also almost equal as Albright had 39 while Swarthmore had 38.

Cetrone scored six goals, while Potter and Nick Tonno each scored two goals. Strayline, Zehr, Boliaux and Jack Bobel each scored one goal on the day.

The Lions look to notch their first win of the year as they take on Mary Washington College Wednesday night at 4 p.m. at Shirk Stadium.
