READING, Pa.- Tanner Brescancine led Albright in the first game going 2-3, but that wasn't enough as it dropped the first game to Widener, 7-0, at Kelchner Field.
After neither team could put any runs on the board in the first, Albright surrendered three runs to Widener in the top of the second inning on a single from Mike Gorofolo and a double from Justin Czupryna.
Albright gave up a run in the top of the second and another in the top of the third inning to fall behind 4-0.
Logan Adams recorded the first hit of the game for the Lions when he singled to left center. With two outs,
Nathan Fretz forced a walk as Adams advanced to second. However, the two base runners were left stranded as Albright was unable to get a run across.
Albright was threatening again in the bottom of the fourth.
Noah Beebe walked and advanced to second base on a single by Brescancine.
Brandon Daubert singled, but Beebe was called out on baserunner's interference. The Lions grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Albright was able to load the bases but weren't able to get a run across after a fielder's choice to end the inning.
Brescancine had two hits in the game while Fretz, Jimmy Gentry, Daubert,
Micah Storms and Adams all added a hit for the Lions.
Matt Fisher pitched three innings, Adams gave up two hits in two innings and
Will Tokarski gave up one run in two innings.
In the second game,
Jeff Yordy and
Austin Roth each had an RBI as Albright fell 10-2.
Brescancine started off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single to right field for Albright. After a strike out, Brescancine advanced to second base on a balk. Beebe reached on a fielder's choice when Brescancice was thrown out at third base. Storms singled left center, advancing Beebe to second. The Lions loaded the bases with an error on the pitcher. Roth singled through the right-side scoring Beebe as Albright posted it's first run of the game.
Yordy singled in the bottom of the fifth and stole third, but was left stranded to end the inning.
Yordy also hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the score to 10-2.
Beebe and Yordy each had two hits in the game. Fretz, Gentry, Brescancine, Storms, Adams and Roth each had one hit in the game.
Roth and Yordy each drove in one RBI.
Shaun O'Reilly gave up four runs and struck out two batters in 3.2 innings.
Trevor Mastria gave up 3 hits in 2.1 innings of relief.
Michael Falconetti pitched the final inning of the game for Albright.
The Lions return to the field on Tuesday when they face Immaculata at Immaculata. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
