Cetrone, Tonno lead MLAX to Victory

READING, Pa. – Cam Cetrone finished with a match-high seven goals to lead the Albright men's lacrosse team to a 15-10 win over cross-town conference foe Alvernia in its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions took advantage of a Crusaders turnover to set up their first goal of the match. After forcing the turnover, Alex Kaufmann scooped up the loose ball that resulted in a Cetrone goal and an early 1-0 lead for the Lions.

Albright regained the lead with 7:02 remaining in the opening quarter as Cetrone's shot found the back of the net. In the ensuing faceoff, JJ Boliaux picked up the ball, ran down the field and fired the ball at the net to hand Albright a 3-1 lead.

Alvernia continued to chip away at the Lions lead as it pulled within one with less than four minutes remaining.

???????Cetrone recorded a hat trick in just 12:30 minutes of the first quarter. With 2:30 left on the clock, Derek Stump set up Cetrone, who sent the ball past Alvernia's Kyle Augustine, for his third goal.

Albright continued to dominate the match in the second quarter scoring back-to-back goals within 11 seconds. Cetrone caused an Alvernia turnover three minutes into the quarter, and moments later, Stump and Cetrone teamed up once again as Cetrone scored his fourth goal of the match. After the Lions won the following face-off, Stump found an open Cetrone, who netted his fifth goal to extend Albright's lead to 6-2.

???????Cetrone was not finished as the senior's shot found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the opening half with 11 minutes remaining.

The Crusaders continued to battle the Lions as they scored two goals to pull within three later in the second quarter. The Lions, however, continued to put pressure on their opponents. Nick Tonno scored his first goal of the game with 7:30 remaining on the clock after the Lions forced an Alvernia turnover. Ryan Higgins extended the Lions lead to five over four minutes later as Albright entered halftime with a 9-4 lead.

???????Tonno exploded for two goals in the opening minutes of the second half. With a man advantage, the junior struck just 43 seconds into the third quarter to put the Lions up by six. Less than two minutes later, Tonno continued to add to the Lions lead as he recorded a hat trick.

The Lions would take advantage of two Crusader penalties to extend their lead to 12-4. Andrew Potter found teammate Cetrone in front of the net, who sent his shot past Augustine.

???????Alvernia fought back as it recorded three goals in the final seven minutes of the third quarter to pull within five.

James Lettieri won the opening faceoff of the fourth quarter to set up Albright's 13th goal. Boliaux scooped up the loose ball and passed it to Tonno. Tonno responded by firing the ball on net to give Albright a 13-7 lead. Both teams exchanged goals midway into the final quarter with Boliaux scoring for the Lions.

Jordan Zehr masterminded the Lions final goal of the match as the senior passed the ball to a waiting Tonno.

???????Alvernia would add two late goals but it was not enough as the Lions held on for the victory.

???????Cetrone led with seven goals and eight points, and Tonno added five. Boliaux added a pair of goals, while Ryan Higgins recorded one. Stump recorded three assists in the win. Ryan Aler made 11 saves to earn the win for Albright.
