Men’s Lacrosse Roars Past Widener

READING, Pa.- Cam Cetrone scored seven goals to lead Albright past Widener, 20-10, on Wednesday night at Shirk Stadium.

Widener quickly went up 2-0 in the early minutes of the first period before Derek Stump put Albright on the board to make it 2-1. Widener put another goal on the board before Albright got hot and went on a 5-0 run to go up 6-3. Cetrone, Nick Tonno and Jack Bobel all scored goals during the run that lasted 10 minutes.

After a goal by Widener, Stump scored on a feed from Tonno. Cetrone traded goals with Widener again, to drive the score to 8-5. The Lions took an 8-6 lead into the half.

Albright came out of the half firing as Jordan Zehr and Cetrone combined for three goals to widen the gap to 11-6. Albright managed to go on another 5-0 run that stretched over six minutes to push the score to 17-8. The Pride managed to put two more goals on the board before Andrew Potter put up another goal for Albright. Tonno closed out the game scoring two goals in the final 30 seconds.

Albright recorded 47 shots on the night while scooping up 41 groundballs. They also won 20 faceoffs and forced 17 turnovers.

Tonno scored four goals while Potter recorded three goals that all came in the second half. Bobel and Zehr each scored 2 goals. Stump scored two goals and dished out four assists.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Lebanon Valley in Lebanon. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
