ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse team fought off a battling Lebanon Valley for an 11-7 conference win at Arnold Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen (6-6, 0-4 MAC) pulled within one early in the fourth quarter to trail Albright (5-5, 3-1 MAC) 7-6.
Cam Cetrone sparked the Lions offense scoring an unassisted goal with 7:30 on the clock. After a Lebanon Valley goal, Albright rattled off the final three goals of the match. Cetrone fed
Jack Bobel in front of the net to extend the Lions' lead to 9-7.
Nick Tonno made it a three-goal lead with 2:05 remaining before Cetrone sealed the win eight seconds later with his game-leading fifth goal.
Cetrone scored the match's first goal a little over five minutes in the opening quarter before the Dutchmen netted the next two goals to take an early 2-1 lead. Tonno knotted the score at two off a
Ryan Higgins pass with 2:18 remaining in the first quarter. With less than one minute remaining, Lebanon Valley took its final lead of the game as it went up 3-2.
Albright scored three unanswered goals to open the second quarter to jump ahead 5-3.
Andrew Potter ignited the run with 9:59 remaining on the clock to tie the score before
Alex Kaufmann handed the Lions a lead that they would never relinquish. Tonno extended Albright's lead to 5-3 with 3:45 left in the quarter. The Dutchmen continued to chip away at Albright's lead scoring as time expired to trail 5-4 at halftime.
Cetrone scored two goals seven minutes apart in the third quarter to give Albright a 7-4 lead before Lebanon Valley scored with 29 seconds left.
Ryan Aler made eight saves to earn the win for the Lions.
Albright returns to action on Thursday when it hosts conference foe Hood at Shirk Stadium at 7 p.m.
