Eastern Mennonite Edges Men’s Soccer, 3-2

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team held an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon at Shirk Stadium, but EMU held off a late surge by Albright to win, 3-2.

EMU opened the second half with a goal in the 46th minute to make it 3-1, but the Lions responded in the 50th minute with Anthony Parlato's third goal of the season. He got behind the defense and had a header saved and a shot saved before burying his third opportunity behind EMU goalkeeper Cody Martin.

Albright had one more chance to tie the score in the final seconds. EMU was called for a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick for the Lions with just 11 seconds remaining. Zachary Lahey couldn't convert, however, and EMU escaped with the victory.

EMU opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but the Lions came back to tie the score in the 33rd minute. Kama Doucoure scored his first goal after a cross from Parlato into the box.

EMU responded with a goal in the 43rd minute to take a 2-1 lead before scoring its third goal in the first minute after halftime.

Parlato led the Lions with six shots and five on goal. DJ Pierson had four shots and two on goal. Billy Mullen made three saves in net.

The Lions return to action at home tomorrow against Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
