Crissy Terraces broke a scoreless tie in the 50
th minute of the contest to help lead the Albright Lions women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over King's at home on Saturday evening.
With the win, the Lions improve to 3-3 on the season after tallying their second straight win. Meanwhile, the Lady Monarchs of the MAC Freedom Conference drop to 3-2 on the season.
The Lions came out in control offensively in the first half as they spent the majority of the time in the Lady Monarchs zone. Terraces nearly got the Lions on the board in the 15
th minute on a shot that was saved by the King's goalkeeper, and three minutes later on a shot that went wide. Sophomore
Bree Bowles created a good scoring chance just before halftime as well when she nearly beat the goalkeeper.
Terraces then cashed in on a breakaway off a turnover for her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 50
th minute. Albright nearly added to its lead in the 79
th minute when junior
Erica Bross headed a ball off a corner kick that hit the cross bar. From there, the Lions were able to hold off a late surge from the Lady Monarchs to win their first game at home this season.
Albright held a 9-5 shot advantage for the game after limiting King's to just two shots in the second half. The Lions also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks as well.
Junior goalkeeper
Alexis Tunney registered her second shutout of the season after making one save in the full 90 minutes of play. Lady Monarchs goalkeeper Jess Schenfeld suffered the loss after making four saves and allowing one goal in the entire 90 minutes.
The Lions will return to action on Tuesday, September 19 as they will travel to face Moravian for a 7 p.m. contest.
