BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Moravian on the road Tuesday night in non-conference action.
With the loss, the Lions record drops to 3-4 on the season and snaps a two-game win streak. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds improve to 6-0-1 and still have yet to allow a goal this season.
It took until the 10
th minute for the first shot of the game to be registered as both offenses started slow on the night. Moravian would break the scoreless tie in the 30
th minute when Jordan Luciano sent a ball into the top right side of the net. The Lions would then survive two good Greyhound chances just before halftime to keep the game at 1-0. Moravian held a slight 6-4 shot advantage in the second half.
Albright was unable to shake the tough Greyhound defense in the second half as well with only one shot that was on goal. The shot was from junior
Kennedy Lutz in the 67
th minute which forced the Greyhound goalkeeper to make a tough save. The Lions did everything they could to score after keeping the game 1-0, but ultimately suffered the loss.
The Greyhounds held an 11-5 shot advantage for the game after holding a 5-1 shot advantage in the second half. Moravian also held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks as well.
Junior goalkeeper
Alexis Tunney suffered the tough-luck loss after making five saves in the entire 90 minutes of play. The Greyhounds used a pair of goalies to maintain the shutout with Jamie Daly and Jessica Lawton splitting the halves. Each goalie made one save.
The Lions will return home on Saturday, September 23
rd when they will face Delaware Valley for a 8 p.m. start.
