READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's soccer team scored two goals within the first 10 minutes of the game, and that is all they needed as they grabbed a 2-0 non-conference win over Delaware Valley Saturday night in non-conference action.
With the win, the Lions improve to 4-4 on the season and pick up their second-straight win at home. Meanwhile, the MAC Freedom Conference member Aggies drop to 1-6-1 on the season.
Junior
Kennedy Lutz got the scoring started early for the Lions as she struck a shot from 10 yards out that gave Albright a 1-0 lead just 34 seconds into the contest. Eight minutes later, sophomore
Jillian Lapidus scored her second goal of the season after she beat the Aggie goalkeeper off a cross from freshman
Daniella LoBue. The Lions continued to dominate in the Delaware Valley zone as they nearly extended their lead off a header from junior
Erica Bross in the 29
th minute that was just saved. The Lions held a 9-0 shot advantage in the first half.
Albright continued to suffocate the Aggies with a strong defensive outing as they allowed them minimal time in the Lions zone. Senior
Crissy Terraces nearly extended the lead in the 49
th minute after having a shot just go wide after a right-side cross from Lapidus. The Lions generated some more chances in the second half, but was able to keep their 2-0 lead intact.
The Lions held a 16-0 shot advantage for the contest as they prevented the Aggies from registering a shot on goal. Albright also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
A pair of Lion goalkeepers combined for the shutout as juniors
Alexis Tunney and
Payton Bogatch split each half without facing a shot. Tunney would earn the win after starting the game in the first half. Aggie goalkeeper Haley Young made four saves in the full 90 minutes in the loss.
Albright will return to action on Tuesday, September 26
th when they will host FDU-Florham for a 7 p.m. contest.
