York Tops Field Hockey, 6-1

READING, Pa. – York (Pa.) used three first-half goals on its way to defeating the Albright field hockey team, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at Shirk Stadium. Annette Helmandollar recorded the goal for the Lions.

The Lions put two shots on York goalkeeper Eve Hauptle in a 30-second rush early in the game. Tracy Snyder and Kaley Donmoyer each recorded a shot on goal, but both shots were turned away by Hauptle. The second shot came directly from a penalty corner by Kasey Neiderer.

York scored the first goal at 19:28 of the first half with Autumn Mallory scoring on a loose ball in front of the net. The score stayed at 1-0 until the final minute of the first half. Amanda Long had back-to-back shots just three minutes after the first goal, but she was twice stopped by Hauptle.

Ali Posey scored at 34:02 to make it 2-0, and Dana Meehling scored at the first-half horn on a shot after a penalty corner attempt.

York made it 5-0 with two more goals, but Albright responded on Helmandollar's goal at 56:28. She scored after a pass in front of the net from Donmoyer. The goal is Helmandollar's first of the season.

Snyder led the team with five shots. She tied for the team lead in shots on goal with two with Helmandollar and Long. Albright goalie Aileen Taylor made 10 saves, including eight in the second half.

Albright returns to action Monday at Wesley at 7 p.m.
