READING, Pa. – Freshman Bryce Schaffer set a school record in the 200 yard butterfly as the Albright men's swimming team suffered a 115-89 loss to Ursinus in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Natatorium.
The Lions won four events on the afternoon with three of them being individual victories. Along with Schaffer, sophomore
Will Griffith tallied a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle and freshman Corey Hausler posted a win in the 200 yard breaststroke. In addition to setting a new school record, Schaffer's time of 1:55.68 is now currently the top time in the MAC this season for the 200 fly. Griffith too made a mark on the top conference times by registering the second best time for the conference in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:14.25. Hausler recorded a time of 2:17.78 to win the 200 breast which is currently the seventh best time in the conference this season.
The 400 yard medley relay team of Schaffer, Hausler, sophomore
Maliq Williams, and junior
Jay Deschamps posted a first place finish with a time of 3:39.05, while the 400 yard freestyle relay team of Griffith, sophomore
Teag Culver, junior
Brendan Mackey-Wood, and Williams posted a second place finish.
The Lions will return to the pool next Saturday, January 20th when they will host Elizabethtown in a dual meet for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
