Hanratty's Hat Trick Carries Men's Soccer to 3-0 Win

READING, Pa. – Freshman Billy Hanratty became the first Albright player in seven years to record a hat trick and the Lions (4-8-1) cruised to a 3-0 win over Bryn Athyn (2-9) in non-conference action on Thursday night at Shirk Stadium in Reading.

Hanratty's hat trick ties the school record for goals in a single game and he is the first player to record a trio of goals since Chris Bette accomplished the feat in a 10-2 win at Valley Forge Christian on Oct. 17, 2011.

The Warminster, Pa., native struck in the fifth minute as he took a feed from senior Anthony Parlato and beat Lions' keeper Shane McCurdy far post to give Albright a 1-0 lead. Hanratty netted his second goal of the game at the 13:38 mark as freshman Alexander MacDonald sent a through ball over the top and led to a breakaway.

Hanratty finished the hat trick in the 48th minute as Parlato crossed a ball into the box and notched his second assist of the game when the former played the ball in the air and found the back of the net.

Albright held a 16-6 shot advantage in the game and an 11-4 edge in shots on target. Hanratty recorded six shots to pace the Lions and classmate Michael DiGiacomo had four.
Junior goalie Billy Mullen recorded his first shutout of the season with four saves for Albright, while McCurdy had eight saves for Bryn Athyn.

The Lions are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when Stevenson comes to Shirk Stadium for a MAC Commonwealth battle at 7 p.m.
