READING, Pa. – Freshman
Autumn Bieber scored a pair of goals and the Albright Lions women's soccer team (9-3-1, 3-2 MACC) held off a late Stevenson rally to pick up a 2-1 win over the Mustangs (3-8-3, 2-3-1 MACC) in MAC Commonwealth action on Wednesday night at Shirk Stadium.
With the win, Albright moves into fourth place in the MAC standings with three games remaining. The top five teams will qualify for the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
Bieber struck first in the 41
st minute as she played a through ball from sophomore
Lauren Haley and was able to beat Mustangs' goalie Keegan Caffrey at the near post to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
In the 68
th minute, Bieber collected a loose bouncing ball in the box and slid a shot past Caffrey to extend the Albright lead to 2-0. Stevenson wouldn't go quietly however as Gabrielle Arters took a feed from Melanie Parncutt to cut the lead in half in the 74
th minute. Less than a minute following her goal, Arters was denied on a shot in close by Lions' keeper
Alexis Tunney.
Albright held a 9-8 shot advantage in the contest and a 6-4 edge in shots on target. Bieber had four shots to pace the Lions, while Haley added three.

The Lions are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they head to Lebanon Valley for a key MAC Commonwealth tilt at 1 p.m.
