FREDERICK, Md. – The Albright Lions men's soccer team (3-6-1, 1-1 MACC) got back to the .500 mark in conference play with a 2-1 victory over the Hood Blazers (6-3-1, 0-2 MACC) on Wednesday night at Thomas Athletic Field in Frederick.
Freshman
Billy Hanratty got the scoring started for the Lions in the 17
th minute as he took a feed from
Anthony Parlato near the top of the box and sent a shot far post past outstretched Hood keeper Danny Castillo. The goal was Hanratty's third of the season. Hood held an 8-5 edge in shots in the opening stanza.
Another freshman struck for Albright in the 83
rd minute as
Paul Baringanire netted his first career goal to give the visitors a 2-0 edge. Jake Hynson's goal less than two minutes later on an A.J. Lewis pass brought the Blazers within one at 2-1.
Hood held a 19-12 shot advantage in the contest including a slight 9-7 edge in shots on target. Baringanire and Parlato had three shots apiece to pace the Lions, while Ricky Salgado led the hosts with seven total shots.
Junior goalie
Billy Mullen made eight saves in net for Albright and earned his first win since Sept. 29, 2017 at Stevenson. Castillo recorded five saves for Hood.
The Lions are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 6 when they travel to take on the top-ranked Messiah Falcons at 7:30 p.m.
