PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Albright women's volleyball team picked up a road non-conference win on Tuesday night as they defeated Valley Forge in straight sets (25-13, 25-13, 25-18).

Sophomores Bryana Chambers and Damaris Gomez followed with eight kills, while classmate Alexa Poss paced the offense with 28 assists in addition to tallying four kills. Freshman Grace Serafin posted a season-high 14 digs and senior Becca Davis added 11 digs in the win.

Each team put together multiple mini-runs to start the game in the first set. The Lions quickly went up 3-1 before the Patriots took the lead back at 4-3. The set found itself tied at seven before Albright won six-straight points to go up 13-7 behind four kills. After the run ended, the Lions won five-straight points to take a commanding 18-8 lead and would close out the set by winning five of the final six points to take the win at 25-13. The Lions started strong in the second half by taking a 6-1 lead before working their way up to a 9-3 advantage. Valley Forge made a run of winning five-straight points to cut the Lions lead down to 9-8, but Albright responded with five-straight points to go up 14-8 and force a Patriot timeout. The Patriots won four-straight points to cut the lead down to 14-12 before the Lions put the set away by winning 11 of the next 12 points to end it at 25-13 again. Sophomore Brooke Franklin posted four service aces during the final run.

The third set went back and forth until the Patriots won three-straight points to go up 6-4. Albright then won eight of the next nine points behind tallying six-straight to take a 12-7 lead. The Lions would open their advantage to 19-10 following another run that was capped by back-to-back kills from Liz Bacovin. Up 24-15 with the game point in hand, the Lions fended off a last charge from the Patriots to win the final set at 25-18 following a service error to conclude the contest.
